Trailer 2: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, Named at Last
Seventeen months after Trailer 1, Rockstar named both protagonists, published seventy screenshots, and stated the footage was captured entirely on a PlayStation 5.
Trailer 2 arrived on May 6, 2025, with no teaser campaign and four days after the delay announcement. Rockstar's description set the premise: "Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive."
This is where the protagonists got their full names. Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos — not, as countless retrospectives claim, in December 2023. Lucia remains the first female lead in a mainline Grand Theft Auto.
One technical claim is worth recording precisely because Rockstar chose to make it: the trailer, both gameplay and cutscenes, was "captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5." That is a specific, checkable assertion about base-console footage, and it is the reason the trailer functions as evidence rather than as a target render.
Rockstar published roughly seventy official screenshots and pieces of artwork to rockstargames.com/VI the same day — the largest single release of official GTA VI material to that point, and the origin of most of the confirmed entries in this database.
On the view count, be careful. Rockstar said the trailer passed 475 million views in 24 hours across all platforms, which it billed as the biggest video launch of all time, ahead of the Deadpool & Wolverine and Spider-Man: No Way Home trailers. On YouTube alone it did roughly 83.6 million, with about 106 million more on X. So it did not beat Trailer 1's YouTube-only record of 90.4 million. Both figures are true; they measure different things, and coverage mixes them relentlessly.
