GTA 6 Delayed Again to November 19, 2026 — the Date That Has Held
The second delay landed on a day of record results. It is also the last one — the date has since been reaffirmed on the record four separate times.
On November 6, 2025, Rockstar moved Grand Theft Auto VI a second time: "Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026. We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."
The timing was pointed. It came with Take-Two's Q2 FY2026 results — and those results were strong. Net bookings of $1.96 billion, up 33% year on year, a clear beat; recurrent consumer spending up 20% and making up 73% of the total; and full-year guidance raised to $6.4–6.5 billion, the second consecutive quarterly raise. Take-Two shares fell anyway. On the day, the delay was the only number that mattered.
Take-Two framed it as giving Rockstar "some additional time to finish the game with the high level of polish players expect and deserve." Cumulatively, the game had moved roughly eighteen months from the original Fall 2025 window.
What distinguishes this delay from the last one is what happened afterwards. November 19, 2026 has now been affirmed on the record four times: at the February 3, 2026 earnings call, where Zelnick projected record fiscal 2027 net bookings "driven by the November 19th launch"; at the May 21, 2026 results, where he said flatly "I think we've been really clear that we're releasing the title on November 19"; in the June 24, 2026 pre-order press release; and in a preliminary proxy statement filed with the SEC on July 17, 2026 — a legally filed governance document rather than a marketing beat.
Take-Two's fiscal 2027 guidance of $8.0–8.2 billion in net bookings is built on that date. It is, at this point, the most heavily committed release date in the industry.
