Rockstar has not announced a launch time for GTA 6. PlayStation Store listings point to a staggered midnight unlock that starts in New Zealand — but the reported timetables disagree with each other.
Grand Theft Auto VI releases on November 19. What time it unlocks is a different question, and Rockstar has not answered it.
What is official
The release date, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-loading of the digital version opens on November 12, so the download itself should not be the bottleneck on launch night. Physical copies are a download code in a box, so they need the same download.
What the PlayStation Store suggests
In early September, outlets reading the regional PlayStation Store listings reported that the game unlocks at midnight local time in each region, starting with New Zealand and moving west. That is a common approach for major digital releases, and if it holds, players in New Zealand and Australia start many hours before anyone in Europe or the Americas.
Why we are not printing a timetable
The reported lists do not agree. Some show New Zealand unlocking at midnight on November 19 local time; at least one widely shared list shows midnight on November 18, which would put the earliest regions more than a day ahead of the UK. Lists also group time zones in ways that cannot all be true at once. Store listings can change, and none of this comes from Rockstar or Sony. A precise table built on that would be wrong for someone.
Changing your region
Advice to switch your Xbox's region to New Zealand to play early is circulating. It is unconfirmed, and on PlayStation, purchases are tied to the account's country, so it does not apply. We would not count on either.
What to do
Pre-load on November 12, and check the game's page in your own console store in the final week, where your local release time will be shown. We will update this page if Rockstar publishes official times.
