GTA 6 Launch Trailer: Justice Score the Final Look at Vice City

Published Covers GTA6DB Staff2 min read

Rockstar released the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer on October 15 without warning: about ninety seconds, captured on PlayStation 5, and set to a new Justice single with Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard.

Rockstar published the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer on October 15, five weeks before release, with no countdown and no advance announcement. It runs about a minute and a half, and Rockstar's description says it was captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5.

What Rockstar says it is about

The Newswire post frames the story in a single paragraph: Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them, and when an easy score goes wrong they end up on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, caught in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across the state of Leonida. That is the clearest plot summary Rockstar has given — a job that fails, and a conspiracy bigger than the job.

The music is the real news

The trailer is scored to “Flower in a Hurricane”, a new single from the French electronic duo Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Rockstar also confirmed something it had not said before: Justice are the composers of GTA VI's original score. The single is on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, and the post promises more on the music, including an official score album.

What was reconfirmed

November 19, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC version is mentioned, as it has not been in any Rockstar announcement.

What viewers have read into it

Coverage has focused on Jason saying he “didn't leave on the best of terms” with the army and on Lucia wearing what looks like an ankle monitor — which fits the prison setting Trailer 1 opened on. A logo on an aircraft at the 0:55 mark has also been tied by some outlets to an online leaker's crypto token. That connection is speculation; Rockstar has said nothing about it, and we would not read anything into a background prop.

Is it the last one?

Probably. Rockstar has not said so, but a trailer labelled “Launch Trailer” five weeks out is conventionally the final piece of marketing footage. The trailer had passed 30 million YouTube views within two days.
