GTA 6: Everything We Know, One Month Out

Published GTA6DB Staff2 min read

Five weeks from launch: the release details, what the Extended Look and Launch Trailer showed, the rating, the music, and the short list of things Rockstar still has not said.

In July, the honest summary of Grand Theft Auto VI was a date, two trailers and a list of unknowns. Three months later most of that list has been answered. This is the state of confirmed knowledge, checked against official sources on October 17.

The basics

November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. $79.99 Standard, $99.99 Ultimate. Pre-loading opens November 12. Boxed copies contain a download code, not a disc. Take-Two continues to call it a single-player game.

It is rated M

The ESRB rating lists blood and gore, intense violence, mature humour, nudity, strong language, strong sexual content, and use of drugs and alcohol — plus the interactive element “In-Game Purchases”. Rob Nelson of Rockstar North has said the game launches with no real-money purchases; Rockstar has not explained what the label covers.

We have seen it played

The Extended Look, about 27 minutes of footage, premiered on Netflix on August 27. The Launch Trailer followed on October 15. Between them, and the interviews around them, Rockstar has confirmed a six-star wanted level, car theft that requires breaking in, and a Criminal Profile system that tracks needless violence. Nelson's own playthrough took about 80 hours.

Leonida in numbers

Game Informer's September cover story, built on Rockstar interviews, reported more than 170 animal species, tropical storms and seasonal hurricanes, and a map Rockstar's Aaron Garbut puts at roughly twice the size of GTA V. Rockstar has also said the story will not take you everywhere on it.

The music

Justice wrote the score. Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album — 34 original tracks with Atlantic Records — releases on launch day, and six radio stations are named so far, including a returning Flash FM. For the first time you can listen on foot, through Jason and Lucia's phones.

Things to buy that are not the game

Two limited-edition DualSense controllers at $84.99, out November 19. The Goodtime State — Vice City Collection, a collector's box that does not include the game. And a GTA VI range at the Rockstar Store.

What is still unknown

Any PC version: Rockstar has never announced one, and a GamesBeat report of an early-2027 release rests on anonymous sources. Any date for an online mode. The install size. The full album tracklist and radio line-up. And whether the Launch Trailer is the last thing Rockstar shows before November 19 — it almost certainly is.
